Sam started tiling around 2008. After lockdown, he took the leap and went out on his own.

Before Tayman Tiling, Sam worked in most parts of the trade, including on Bellway sites. That is where the pace comes from. The fussiness comes from the houses since: 1600s cottages, manor houses, new-builds on the Sussex coast.

Harvey Berry came on full time, and in Sam's words, this business is a team effort now. Danielle looks after the office. On bigger programmes we bring in trusted subcontractors. Since January 2025 we have taken on full bathroom installations as well as tiling.

How a job runs

The same order, whether it is a splashback or a shop floor.

  1. Pre-visitWe measure up and quote, and bring sample books and ideas on what would suit the room.
  2. PlanSet-out worked out first. Materials agreed. We can supply and install, or work with tiles you have chosen.
  3. PrepPriming, levelling, boards, matting, tanking. Whatever the room needs, to the datasheet.
  4. TileLaser, centre lines, then tile. On site early and working the whole day.
  5. FinishGrouted, trimmed, sealed where needed and left clean, ready for second fix.
